Codemasters release a free trial edition of DiRT Rally 2.0 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Despite the evident quality of Codemasters’ Dirt Rally franchise, it’s sometimes overshadowed by the more accessible Forza and Grid games, or the studio’s own ultra-sober F1 series.

Although it’s a serious game, Dirt Rally 2.0 straddles the divide between arcade racer and racing simulation rather well. A new free trial on console gives players of all racing persuasions the chance to take the game for a spin.

The Dirt Rally 2.0 free trial features ten cars to race across the Rally and Rallycross disciplines. The trial includes vehicles from world-famous manufacturers including Volkswagen, Audi, Peugeot, Renault, Ford and Lancia, and tracks from Spain and New Zealand. Codemasters say they have worked with a community of players, drivers, team managers, and manufacturers to make sure the trial showcases the best the game has to offer.

If you like what you play, you can unlock the full game from within the free trial version and seamlessly transfer all progress over.

The Dirt Rally 2.0 free trial version is available now on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The full version of the game is available now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Steam, Oculus, Windows 10, Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass for PC.
