How to download Marshadow to Pokémon Sun and Moon

The mysterious Marshadow will soon be coming to Pokémon Sun and Moon. Here’s how you catch it.

Alas, another trip to Gamestop is in order if you want to pick up the new Mythical Pokémon Marshadow. Participating stores in the US will be giving away free codes that can be redeemed in-game from October 9th – 23rd, 2017.

In the UK the promotion runs from October 1st – November 16th, 2017. Codes will be available at ‘local participating retailers’, most likely to be branches of Game.

Marshadow is the game’s only Fighting and Ghost-type Pokémon, and turns a lovely shade of green when launching an attack. The mischievous looking monster comes battle-ready, armed with the Spectral Thief move.

Marshadow also bears a gift, the Z-Crystal Marshadium Z item, which allows it to attack with the 7-Star Strike Z move.

How to download Marshadow to Pokémon Sun & Moon

Charge your Nintendo 3DS, turn it on, and make sure you can connect to the interwebs.
Load Pokémon Sun or Moon, and select the option for ‘Mystery Gift’ on the main menu.
Choose ‘Receive Gift’.
Then choose ‘Get via Code/Password’.
Select ‘Yes’ when asked if you want to connect to the internet.
Enter the promotional code.
Read Herman Melville’s Moby Dick while the 3DS downloads Marshadow.
Once received, the level 50 Marshadow can be retrieved from the delivery chap found in any Pokémon Center. You’ll also get a Wonder Card that can be found in the ‘Mystery Gift’ menu.
Then save your game!
