If the sight of Mario’s nipples knocked you out cold, here’s a reminder of everything announced in September’s Nintendo Direct.
We’re a little late to the party with this post so we’ll keep it short. It was another solid Nintendo Direct update with a raft of surprise announcements for both the Switch and 3DS. Highlights were confirmation of Doom and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus coming to the Switch, and the ‘it’s out now’ reveal of Minecraft for the New 3DS.
Here’s the full list of games and dates from today’s broadcast:
Nintendo Switch
Super Mario Odyssey
Nipples, story details, locations and modes. A new Switch hardware bundle is on the way that includes a download code for the game, Mario-themed red Joy-Con controllers, and a Super Mario Odyssey carry case. Game Released on 27th October.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Release date confirmed for 1st December. Special edition includes sound selection CD, metal game case, and a 220-page hardbound art book. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Pro Controller will also be available on 1st December.
Project Octopath Traveler
Launches in 2018. Free demo out now on the Nintendo eShop.
Doom and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus:
Bethesda Softworks is bringing Doom to the Switch this winter and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus in 2018.
Kirby Star Allies
The new Switch Kirby game previous revealed at E3 will launch in spring 2018.
Splatoon 2
The Kelp Dome stage will be part of a free update released for the game on 16th September. A new stage called Snapper Canal, and an extra-large Brella weapon called the Tenta Brella are coming in a future update.
Arms
A free update is now available that adds control remapping, and new fighter Lola Pop.
Fire Emblem Warriors
Fan-favourite character Lyndis has been added to the game’s cast. Launching on 20th October, also available as part of a special-edition bundle.
Arcade Archives
Arcade porting specialists, Hamster Corporation, are bringing Nintendo arcade games to Switch. The range will begin with Arcade Archives: Mario Bros. on 27th September. Other titles include VS. Super Mario Bros., VS. Balloon Fight, VS. Ice Climber, VS. Pinball and VS. Clu Clu Land.
Snipperclips Plus: Cut it out, together!
Expanded version of Snipperclips adds 30 new stages, new challenges and new features. Players who already own the original digital version of the game can purchase all the new content as DLC. Released on 10th November.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Released on 17th November.
Rocket League
Nintendo Switch exclusive vehicles include Nintendo-themed Battle-Cars and customisation items. Released Winter 2017.
Dragon Quest Builders
Due for release in Spring 2018.
L.A. Noire
Released on 14th November. Includes all DLC, new collectibles and detective suits, gyroscopic gesture-based controls, new camera angles, and touch-screen controls.
NBA 2K18
Launches on 15th September on the Nintendo eShop, and at retail on 17th October.
FIFA 18
Released on 29th September.
Lost Sphear
New RPG from Square Enix will be released on 23rd January 2018.
Sonic Forces
Released 7th November.
Resident Evil Revelations / Resident Evil Revelations 2
Released 28th November.
Flip Wars
Free update coming soon that add a new stage, new mechanics, local wireless multiplayer, and new online modes.
Morphies Law
Console exclusive launch this winter.
Arena of Valor
Beta test version will be available for free this winter.
Amiibo
The Legend of Zelda Champions four-pack released on 10th November. Includes Daruk, Mipha, Revali and Urbosa amiibo.
Nintendo 3DS
Pokémon Ultra Sun / Pokémon Ultra Moon
Players who purchase the game early can get a special gift Rockruff who will evolve into a Dusk Form Lycanroc. Players who download the digital version of the game by 10th January will receive 12 Quick Balls. A new Poké Ball-themed New Nintendo 2DS XL system will also launch alongside the games on 17th November.
Nintendo presents: New Style Boutique 3 – Styling Star
Released on 24th November.
Mario Party: The Top 100
Compiles 100 mini-games from the console Mario Party series. Supports local Download Play for up to four players. Due for release in January 2018.
Kirby: Battle Royale
Released on 3rd November.
Layton’s Mystery Journey
Released on 6th October.
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser’s Minions
Released on 6th October. New Goomba and Koopa Troopa amiibo – and the existing Boo amiibo – will unlock additional in-game stamp sheets.
Minecraft: New Nintendo 3DS Edition
Includes Survival and Creative modes, five skin packs and two texture packs. Available via Nintendo eShop now in the US, in Europe soon, and in stores at a later date.
Nintendo Selects
Super Mario 3D Land, Kirby Triple Deluxe, and Luigi’s Mansion 2 join the Nintendo Selects range on 13th October. The New Nintendo 3DS XL: Super Nintendo Entertainment System Edition will be available on the same day.
The Alliance Alive
NewRPG coming to the Nintendo eShop in early 2018.
Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth
Free demo now available, due for release in Autumn 2017.
Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney,
Confirmed for release in November.
