Nintendo has announced that a new Nintendo Direct, focused on the Fire Emblem series, will be broadcast on the 18th January.

After last week’s Switch shenanigans it’s back to business as usual for Nintendo with a new Direct broadcast scheduled for tomorrow at 5PM ET/10PM GMT. The broadcast will be focused on upcoming games in the Fire Emblem series. So what can we expect to see?

Fire Emblem for mobile

Fire Emblem has already been confirmed as one of the next IPs Nintendo are bringing to mobile. What form the game will take is another matter. Will it be a port of one of the popular 3DS titles of recent years? Or a game built from the ground up for smart devices? We’d bet on the latter. Nintendo have also indicated that the game will be monetised with micro-transactons, rather than with a fixed fee like Super Mario Run.

Fire Emblem Warriors for Nintendo Switch

Fire Emblem Warriors received a brief mention at last week’s Nintendo Switch event, but no gameplay details or footage were revealed. The game is the latest in a long line of Dynasty Warriors franchise crossovers from Koei Tecmo. Nintendo fans will already be familiar with another game of its ilk, the Legend of Zelda spin-off, Hyrule Warriors, which came to Wii U and 3DS.

Fire Emblem for 3DS

The 3DS has been host to four wonderful Fire Emblem titles released in the last five years. Fire Emblem Awakening came to Nintendo’s handheld back in 2012, and the Fire Emblem Fates triumvirate: Birthright, Conquest and Revelation was released in early 2016. We wouldn’t be at all surprised to see the first title receive a budget Nintendo Selects release, and the Fates series get a 3-in-1 combo-pack.

You can watch the Nintendo Direct via Twitch, YouTube or at the official Nintendo website.
