GEEK games festival set for half-term

Family friendly games festival GEEK is returning this half-term, running from 21st-23rd February at the Winter Gardens Margate, Kent.

GEEK 2014

GEEK 2014 is an event celebrating games and play, featuring activities for casual and dedicated gamers. Each day features a full programme of talks, workshops and demonstrations. The event also covers a number of important topics, including digital education and community regeneration.

In addition, Ian Livingston will be in attendance on the 20th February to discuss computing education at the Hack the Future industry event. Hack the Future brings together digital visionaries, teachers, and representatives from the creative and cultural sector to look at some of the imperatives raised by the digital age.

We have a favour to ask

Thumbsticks has a couple of main aims. We want to write interesting articles and cover games that most outlets won't, and we want to give opportunities to new writers and new voices. And right now, with the current state of online publishing? It's tough! We hate to ask, but if you want us to continue writing what others won't, or to keep covering weird indie games, or to be able to give opportunities to new writers – and only if you can afford it – then please consider supporting us on Patreon.
