Pick up the first Crackdown game for free on Xbox One, to celebrate the release of Crackdown 3.
It feels weird – in a release week that includes Metro Exodus and Far Cry New Dawn – that Microsoft isn’t making a bigger noise about Crackdown 3.
In different times, people might be speculating that it doesn’t have a lot of faith in the release. That they’re trying to sweep it under the carpet a bit. But in the age of brand new releases straight on to Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft doesn’t have to push boxed releases as hard.
The gaming giant hasn’t published any figures for uptake on the Xbox Game Pass to date, but given that Crackdown 3 will be included for subscribers, for free, on release day? It’s safe to assume the game will find a decent audience.
If you’re not familiar with the Crackdown series, first released for Xbox 360 in 2007, here’s a perfect way to get acquainted: the first Crackdown is available for free on Xbox One right now.
You can pick up the first Crackdown from the Xbox Live marketplace. It’s technically an Xbox 360 game, but is playable on Xbox One via backwards compatibility, and even features Xbox One X enhancements.
It’s not clear from Microsoft’s announcement how long the first Crackdown game will be available for free, but given it’s in celebration of the release of Crackdown 3, it might not last forever.
Check out this week’s Xbox One releases, which features – among other things – Crackdown 3.
