Dark Light

Untitled Goose Game developer House House has used the goose’s massive platform to implore the British public to vote Labour.

The elevator pitch for Untitled Goose Game is that “it is a lovely morning in the village, and you are a horrible goose,” but we don’t think that’s the whole story.

In Japan, for instance, the game is actually called Mischievous Goose is Coming, which we think is a much more apt title. Sorry, not title. It’s untitled. A more apt way to identify the game?

Anyway, the point is, we don’t think the goose is horrible. We think the goose is cheeky, and rebellious, and doesn’t play by anyone’s rules. But horrible? Consider this, our alternative elevator pitch for Untitled Goose Game:

“It is a lovely morning in an English middle-class village filled with baby boomers and Tory voters, and you are a goose, the village’s only hope.”

Turns out we weren’t so far off with our assessment. House House, Untitled Goose Game’s Australian developer, has taken to Twitter come out in support of the Labour Party in the upcoming UK General Election on December 12, 2019.

It’s not the first time that the goose has come out in UK politics. Here they are, chasing Prime Minister Boris Johnson on a placard at a march:

And these placards, too:

You might want to keep politics out of video games, but do you know what? This stuff is crucial. It’s literally life and death for people with disabilities, or people living in poverty. It’s potentially the beginning of the end for the NHS and the UK’s commitment to reducing climate change.

This is the most important election the UK has faced in a decade, and if anyone can engage young people in voting, it’s celebrities.

And in 2019, there are few bigger celebrities than the goose.

Honk!

PS. If anybody wants to use our header image above, of the goose honking at Boris Johnson, fill your boots! Here’s a direct link to a bigger version, in fact. Normally we’re very protective over things we’ve made, but in this instance, you have our permission to use it in any way you think will be beneficial in getting people out to vote.
