Grand Theft Auto 5 PS5 and Xbox Series X release date confirmed

Rockstar Games has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 5 will come to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S later this month.

The PS5 and Xbox Series updates include enhanced textures, ray-tracing, improved performance (up to 60 FPS) and 4K display output. PS5 owners also benefit from 3D audio and DualSense controller haptics that reflect road surface texture, weather effects, and directional damage.

All versions include faster loading times, increased population and traffic variety, enhanced lighting and improved shadows, reflections, and fire effects.

Here’s how the graphics settings break down on each platform.

Grand Theft Auto 5 – PlayStation 5 Graphics Modes

  • Fidelity Mode – Native 4K resolution, ray-tracing, target 30 FPS
  • Performance Mode – Upscaled 4K resolution, target 60 FPS
  • Performance RT mode –  Hybrid of Fidelity and Performance modes supporting upscaled 4K resolution, ray tracing, targeted 60 FPS

  • Fidelity Mode – Native 4K resolution, ray-tracing, target 30 FPS
  • Performance Mode – Upscaled 4K resolution, target 60 FPS

Next-Gen Character Transfer

Players who already own the game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One can transfer their story mode progress with a one-time migration. Saves can be uploaded to the Rockstar Games Social Club, accessible from the game’s pause menu.
