Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series release date announced

Dark Light

Telltale’s Guardians of the Galaxy series begins next month.

The first episode of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series – we’ll say the full name just the once – will be released on digital stores on April 18, 2017.

Tangled Up in Blue features the further adventures of Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot. And based on newly released artwork, it seems that the Mad Titan Thanos will be along for the ride, too.

Telltale’s stock has dipped a little in recent times with games like The Walking Dead – A New Frontier and Batman not quite hitting the mark. Here’s hoping that the lighter material of the Marvel universe will give Telltale’s brand of narrative gameplay a shot in the arm.

Jay Ong, SVP for games & innovation at Marvel, is certainly hopeful:

“With story at the core of everything that Marvel creates, who better to team with than master storytellers Telltale Games? Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series fully showcases Marvel and Telltale’s rich legacy of storytelling, and fans will find themselves immersed in an original, character-driven narrative. As part of our strategy to establish a new standard for Marvel games, this is certainly among the great titles to come.”

The first episode will be available to download on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, iOS, and Android devices, and will be priced $4.99. As with other recent Telltale releases, a season pass retail disc will follow that includes Tangled Up in Blue, and access to the four subsequent episodes as they become available. You can pick that up from May 5, 2017.

Telltale have also announced that a new trailer for the game will arrive Thursday March 30, at 9AM PT.
