Dark Light

Looks like the titular “forbidden west” will be off-limits for a little bit longer.

Sony and Guerrilla Games were originally planning to release Horizon Forbidden West, the anticipated follow-up to 2017’s Horizon Zero Dawn, in “late 2021”.

(Yet somehow, we didn’t include it in our “most anticipated video games of 2021” list? It’s almost like we knew what was coming…)

Now, in a PlayStation Blog post and a tweet by Guerrilla Games, it’s been confirmed that the Horizon Forbidden West release date has been pushed back into next year.

How far back? To February 18, 2022. When you think about it, that’s only a three-to-four-month delay from what was presumably an October/November release date, which is not too bad.

Technically it’s less than two months from “late 2021” if we’re reading that original release window literally. (Though you should never take release windows literally.)

Where were we? Oh, right, yes. Horizon Forbidden West will now release on February 18, 2022, and you should expect to see it on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, for better or worse.

Thanks, The Verge.
