Koji Kondo’s classic Legend of Zelda soundtrack is getting a brand new orchestral release on double-vinyl.
iam8bit are releasing a newly recorded arrangement of the soundtrack for the classic Nintendo 64 game, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Hero of Time will, appropriately enough, be recorded with a full 64-piece orchestra – which is surely not a coincidence – and is being released to belatedly mark the 30th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda series.
iam8bit have collaborated with Materia Collective for the new recording. which is promised to have a ‘big and robust’ sound. You can never have too many versions of Gerudo Valley in your collection, that’s for sure. iam8bit and Materia previously partnered up for the vinyl release of Toby Fox’s Undertale score.
As for the disc itself, well it’s beautiful. The gate-fold sleeve features stunning artwork from Ryan Brinkerhoff that depicts the game’s two time-zones. It also features a die-cut ocarina-shaped window and features a gold foil Triforce stamp. The two discs will be pressed onto 180-gram, heavyweight colored vinyl.
If you don’t own a modern day phonograph you’ll be pleased to know that Materia will also be releasing a digital version. Both editions are currently scheduled for release in Q2, 2017.
Pre-orders for Hero of Time open at 10am PT on Friday 9th December. Head over to the iam8bit website to find out more.
