The Just Cause 4 promotional push ramps up with the release of new trailers and posters inspired by classic action films.

We usually roll our eyes when we see examples of X done in the style of Y. Things like the Game of Thrones theme played on a kazoo, or the characters of Star Wars reimagined as Yokai Watch creatures.

That being said, we confess to being impressed by the effort and execution of these new posters and trailers for Square Enix’s upcoming open world action game, Just Cause 4.

Starring the franchise’s bland but loveable hero, Rico Rodriguez, each poster apes the style of a movie one-sheet from the 1960s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s.

Our favourite is the 1970s version, but we also rather like the call out to Heat in the 1990s variant.

We have a favour to ask

Thumbsticks has a couple of main aims. We want to write interesting articles and cover games that most outlets won't, and we want to give opportunities to new writers and new voices. And right now, with the current state of online publishing? It's tough! We hate to ask, but if you want us to continue writing what others won't, or to keep covering weird indie games, or to be able to give opportunities to new writers – and only if you can afford it – then please consider supporting us on Patreon.
