Kalypso celebrates its 15th anniversary with a Steam publisher sale

Dark Light

It’s also Tropico’s 20th anniversary, and the series is also included in Kalypso Media’s Steam publisher sale.

It’s easy to forget that Tropico, the popular banana republic ’em up, wasn’t always published by Kalypso Media. No, the first two games in the series were published by Gathering of Developers, a now-defunct subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive.

But somewhere between Tropico 2: Pirate Cove and Tropico 3, Kalypso Media bought the rights to the series, when the fledgling strategy publisher was just two years old. So while it might seem weird, Kalypso is actually five years younger than its most popular child, the Tropico series. (Kalypso Media is just 15 years old, to Tropico’s 20.)

To celebrate both these anniversaries, Kalypso Media is hosting a Steam publisher sale, with up to 80% off its games, including the Tropico series – and its most recent entry, Tropico 6 – and pre-orders on upcoming strategy RPG, Disciples: Liberation.
