The long awaited ‘collab’ between Capcom’s Monster Hunter: World and CD Project Red’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is now available as a free update on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One

The DLC adds a range of Witcher-themed content, including a new quest line for players above Hunter Rank 16.

In Contract: Trouble in the Ancient Forest, Geralt of Rivia must chase down a powerful creature called the Leshen. The quest incorporates aspects of The Witcher 3‘s choice-based gameplay with a fully voiced Geralt, who is once again performed by Doug Cockle.

Completing the quest will reward players with Witcher-themed items, resources for crafting Geralt’s iconic armour and weapon set, a Palico skin and weapon, plus new gestures, titles, and guild card background.

Between February 15 and March 1, players Hunter Rank 50 or above can also join a new multiplayer event against an even deadlier version of the Leshen. Completion rewards include a Ciri weapon and armour set.

Here’s a trailer of the delights in store.

The Monster Hunter: World x The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt update is also planned for release on PC at a later date.

In other Monster Hunter: World news, Capcom has announced that the game has sold almost 12 million copies world-wide, making it the most popular game in the series, and the best selling Capcom game of all time.

We have a favour to ask

Thumbsticks has a couple of main aims. We want to write interesting articles and cover games that most outlets won't, and we want to give opportunities to new writers and new voices. And right now, with the current state of online publishing? It's tough! We hate to ask, but if you want us to continue writing what others won't, or to keep covering weird indie games, or to be able to give opportunities to new writers – and only if you can afford it – then please consider supporting us on Patreon.
