New PlayStation Store releases

Borderlands 3, eFootball PES 2020, and the return of Telltale’s The Walking Dead headline next week’s new PlayStation Store releases for the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita.

The big-ticket item on every platform this week (well, except the Nintendo Switch) is Borderlands 3. Gearbox and 2K have been ramping up their PR offensive on the third game proper in the first-person action RPG, and the release is nearly upon us. All signs point to Borderlands 3 being a brilliant expansion and evolution on Borderlands 2’s knockabout loot-and-shoot formula, (even if we did forget that we played it at E3).

Sports games are also big on this week’s PlayStation 4 releases. It’s that time of year again, so it’s to be expected. This week, eFootball PES 2020 – that’s the new name for Pro Evolution Soccer; expect it to be branded just “eFootball” before too long, to court the esports scene – and NHL 20 will take to the field, and ice, respectively. There’s also fishing, dodgeball, rallying, and hillbilly oval racing (AKA, NASCAR) if you’re not into the more traditional team sports.

Also of note is Greedfall, a massive action-RPG from developer Spiders and publisher Focus Home Interactive, which we’ll have a review for as soon as we can get through the beast. And rounding off the releases is The Walking Dead: The Telltale Definitive Series, which is a compilation (and redux) of all of the Telltale Walking Dead games. (This is a collection from Skybound, Robert Kirkman’s production company that bought the rights back from Telltale when it folded, and has no relation to the recent phoenixing of the Telltale brand.)

Here’s the full list of games coming to PlayStation 4 this week. (And Vita. One game for Vita.)
