The latest teaser trailer for Halo Infinite reintroduces a (very recent) returning villain.

We don’t know all that much about Halo Infinite yet. We’ve seen some dude in a space ship end up having to scrape Master Chief off his windshield. We’ve seen a broken Halo Ring in a pretty grassland.

And that’s about it, really.

But today, we got a look at who the villain will be in a new Halo Infinite teaser trailer, and it’s someone we’ve run into before.

The Banished were a group of mercenaries who broke off from the Covenant in Halo Wars 2. It’s a bold choice to go for a villain from a realtime strategy spin-off to the Halo series, and such a recent one at that. Perhaps The Banished won’t be the only antagonists in Halo Infinite?

(Hint: It’s been a while since the last time Cortana went on a rampage, right? If we were the UNSC, we’d probably just build AI that didn’t go bad after seven years.)

Thumbsticks has a couple of goals. We want to write interesting articles and cover games that most outlets won't, and we want to give opportunities to new writers and new voices. And right now, with the current state of online publishing? It's tough to meet those goals! We hate to ask, but if you want us to continue writing what others won't, or to keep covering weird indie games, or to be able to give opportunities to new writers – and only if you can afford it – then please consider supporting us on Patreon.
