Microsoft has revealed three new special edition Xbox One Wireless Controller designs.
The ever-increasing range of fancy Xbox One controllers continues to grow with these three new paint jobs. As ever they make our minds wander, this time evoking childhood memories of weeds growing through cracks in the sidewalk, clouds billowing above a rumbling volcano, and, erm, navy patrol uniforms.
I kid, of course. I’m only saying all that because Microsoft has given each controller an equally fancy moniker. Introducing: the Patrol Tech Special Edition, the Volcano Shadow Special Edition, and the Green/Grey edition. OK, not so fancy that last one.
According to Microsoft, the Patrol Tech Special Edition is inspired by military technology and the performance patterns found in airborne navy patrol units. The controller has a premium finish with laser etched textures, silver accents, and a rubberized diamond grip on the reverse. The Patrol Tech Special Edition is priced at $69.99 USD, and will be available worldwide from 5th September, 2017.
The Volcano Shadow Special Edition features a matte black top case that fades to a metallic red finish at the sides. It’s also priced at $69.99 USD, and will be available at selected retailers form 3rd August, 2017.
The Grey/Green edition features a two-tone grey design with green accents at the base of the thumbsticks. This edition will set you back $64.99 USD, and is also available from 3rd August, 2017.
Each controller is fully compatible with the original Xbox One, the Xbox One S, Windows PCs, and the forthcoming Xbox One X.
