A revival of an arcade classic headlines next week’s lineup of new Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S releases.

Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection comes to Xbox consoles next week, three month’s after its Nintendo Switch debut. The eagerly anticipated revival of Capcom’s arcade classic divided players when it was first revealed. The Monty Python-esque art style isn’t to everyone’s taste – and nor is the game’s cruel difficulty – but if you’re a fan of the series, there is much to enjoy.

Sniper Ghost Warriors Contracts 2 is a new tactical shooter from GI Games. Like its predecessor, the game eschews the franchise’s traditional open-world format in favour of mission-based gameplay. The developer pitches the game as being the most challenging entry in the series so far.

Other new releases include co-operative spy adventure Operation Tango and Necromunda: Hired Gun, a new FPS from Streum On Studio set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe.

Here’s the full lineup of confirmed new Xbox digital game store releases. We’ll update this list throughout the week with any late additions.

We have a favour to ask

Thumbsticks has a couple of main aims. We want to write interesting articles and cover games that most outlets won't, and we want to give opportunities to new writers and new voices. And right now, with the current state of online publishing? It's tough! We hate to ask, but if you want us to continue writing what others won't, or to keep covering weird indie games, or to be able to give opportunities to new writers – and only if you can afford it – then please consider supporting us on Patreon.
