Dark Light

Nintendo are as likely to sell you a theme as a game on the 3DS eShop these days.

However, if you are a fan of customising your portable Nintendo console – and have a bag of loose change to spare  – you can soon tart up your 3DS in a whole new way.

Introducing the Nintendo Badge Arcade, which will be arriving on the Nintendo eShop as a free download on 13th November.

Taking place in an arcade managed by a rabbit, players can play crane games and other amusements to collect badges based on Nintendo game series like Mario Kart, The Legend of Zelda, Splatoon and Animal Crossing.

Badges can be then used to decorate the 3DS Home Menu, taking up the vacant spaces not used by game icons.

Players will get five free plays on a practice machine each day but can also “win” free plays for the machines containing real badges. Don’t fret however, micro-transactions come to the rescue with plays for the real machine available to purchase priced at a cool £0.90 / €1.00 for five plays.

You’re paying for JPGs, basically. Here’s a trailer.
