Nintendo kicks off the new year with a quiet week of releases on the Nintendo eShop.
With the release of the Nintendo Switch fast approaching we can expect to see number of titles coming to the Nintendo eShop slow down, on Wii U at least. Only this week rumours are circulating that Mother 3 will be getting a long-awaited release on Virtual Console, but rather than coming to Wii U or 3DS, it will be used as a carrot for the Nintendo’s new console.
This means that for the next few months we can expect the Wii U line-up to consist of games like, well, Cup Critters and Spheroids. Cup Critters is a physics-based gravity manipulation puzzle game in which you juggle balls into cups. Spheroids is a promising adventure platform game with a pleasingly chunky retro aesthetic.
This week also sees the release of new add-on content for Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse, plus a permanent price discount for Image & Form’s wonderful SteamWorld Heist.
Here’s the full eShop release line-up:
Nintendo eShop releases for 5 January, 2017
- Cup Critters – €1.49 / £1.39 / CHF 2.10
- Spheroids – €7.99 / £6.99 / CHF 9.99
- Quiet, Please! – €3.49 / £2.99 / CHF 3.49
