Nintendo is preparing to make a reveal at 10pm tonight for a “new interactive experience” on the Switch.
A post on the Nintendo website reads: “Tune in to discover a new interactive experience for Nintendo Switch that’s specifically crafted for kids and those who are kids at heart.”
After last week’s Nintendo Direct Mini, we learned Mario Tennis Aces, Kirby Star Allies, new DLC for Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze – the fantastic Wii U game developed by Metroid Prime creators Retro Studios – are all being brought to the Switch. There was also, the Dark Souls remaster for the more adult audience.
This announcement, going by what Nintendo has said, sounds more family-friendly, but there is no word yet on what this may be.
It’s also interesting to note that a “new interactive experience” is a strange way of saying ‘game’. Does this point towards something akin to a social space? Or a VR-type immersion experience? We shall see tonight!
The Switch is gearing up to follow what was, in the end, an excellent first year. Its indie support is still going strong, with a Night in the Woods port just announced, and it’s expecting Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus and Payday 2. It’s looking like an interesting second-year for the console is on the cards.
