Nintendo Switch Online will add six new (old) SNES and NES games next week.
Nintendo Switch Online subscribers were extremely excited when the company added 20 SNES games back in September. Then, much less excited when, the next day, Nintendo stated that it would no longer bring games to the service on “a regular schedule.”
Well, three months later, the first irregular drop is almost here.
Nintendo announced last night that four SNES games and two NES games will come to the service on December 12, 2019. Here’s the list:
Nintendo Switch Online Games – December 2019
SNES games
- Breath of Fire 2
- Kirby Super Star
- Starfox 2
- Super Punch-Out!!
NES games
- Crystalis
- Journey to Silius
The list doesn’t include any really heavy hitters. Earthbound and the Donkey Kong Country series are still nowhere to be seen. But, this release marks the first time that the finished-but-canceled Starfox 2 has been playable outside last year’s SNES Classic release.
Fingers crossed that future drops will be slightly more regular.
