Dark Light

Ashen, Call of Juarez: Gunslinger and the final Shovel Knight expansions are the highlights of this week’s new Nintendo Switch games.

We really hope the Switch edition of A44’s Ashen is up to scratch. The game is an inventive RPG with a fascinating world to explore, distinctive visuals, and rewarding risk/reward combat mechanics.

If you’d rather deal with bad guys by shooting from the hip, the Switch version of Call of Juarez: Gunslinger should have you covered. Techland’s game tips its hat to a plethora of Western classics with swagger and style, and is another welcome port from the Xbox 360/PS3 era.

This week also sees the long-awaited final expansions for YachtClub’s 2D platformer, Shovel Knight. King of Cards and Showdown are available separately or as part of a newly reissued Treasure Trove package. It’s value-packed and absolutely recommended.

Other highlights include couch co-op adventure Riverbond, Football Manager 20 Touch, and Touhou Project racing game, Gensou Skydrift.

Here’s the current lineup of confirmed new Nintendo Switch releases. Check back throughout the week for news of any late additions.
