Pokémon Legends Arceus and The Artful Escape are among this week’s new Nintendo Switch eShop releases.
It feels like every new Pokémon game is accompanied by the chatter of disgruntled fans. On one level, this week’s big Nintendo Switch release, Pokémon: Legends Arceus, gives players what they’ve been asking for. It features large free-roaming environments, Monster Hunter-inspired action, and an exploration of the franchise’s mythology.
Nonetheless, some fans aren’t taken by its visuals, nor the fact the game’s Hisui region isn’t a traditional open world. Hopefully, it will rise above such concerns and give the series a welcome shakeup. And if you prefer old-school Pokémon, the fantastic Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl remakes are recommended.
This week’s other big release is Beethoven and Dinosaur’s psychedelic adventure, The Artful Escape. It’s a joyous journey of cosmic proportions and a feast for the senses.
