Please be excited by this week’s lineup of new Nintendo Switch eShop releases.

Following the release of Hyrule Warriors: Age of the Calamity we have a couple of weeks until the Nintendo Switch gets its next big game, which we suppose is Ubisoft’s Immortals: Fenyx Rising. In the meantime, this week’s lineup of new eShop games proves that small and simple and be also be brilliant.

The Alto Collection is a double pack of sublime snowboarding and sandboarding games that debuted on mobile before coming to PC and console. Of the two, our favourite is the more full-featured sequel, Alto’s Odyssey, but Alto’s Adventure has a refreshing purity, and both games are among the best in the endless-runner genre.

Jupiter’s long-running puzzle series also returns this week with Picross S5. The latest volume of picture puzzle includes four game modes – Picross, Mega Picross, Color Picross, and Clip Picross – which make up a combined total of 485 individual brainteasers. That’s value for money right there, and if you’re curious about the series, all of Jupiter’s Switch and 3DS games are currently on sale.

Also arriving this week is Tracks – Toybox Edition, the super-charming toy train set builder from Excalibur Games. And European Switch owners can look forward to the release of Cobra Kai: The Karate Kid Saga Continues, the tie-in game to the popular Netflix series.

Finally, players expecting Football Manager 2021 Touch to be released this week will have to wait a little longer. Developer Sports Interactive says the game will likely arrive before the end of the year.

Here’s the full lineup of new Nintendo Switch releases. We’ll update this page with any latecomers throughout the week.

We have a favour to ask

Thumbsticks has a couple of main aims. We want to write interesting articles and cover games that most outlets won't, and we want to give opportunities to new writers and new voices. And right now, with the current state of online publishing? It's tough! We hate to ask, but if you want us to continue writing what others won't, or to keep covering weird indie games, or to be able to give opportunities to new writers – and only if you can afford it – then please consider supporting us on Patreon.
