Dark Light

Torchlight III and Gonner 2 are the highlights from this week’s lineup of new Nintendo Switch eShop releases.

Torchlight III was released on other platforms last week where it received a cautiously positive welcome. Considering the development journey the game has experienced – it’s been an MMO and a free-to-play game at various points – it’s a wonder it turned out as well as it has. We’ll need to see if the Switch port is up to scratch before recommending, but it’s one to watch. If not, the excellent port of Torchlight II is still available.

Following a successful period in PC early access, ScourgeBringer, the fast-paced rogue-lite platformer from Flying Oak Games, also comes to Switch this week. Players have praised the game’s tight controls and visuals but warn of difficulty spikes. Likewise, Gonner 2 serves up another intense gauntlet of procedurally-generated platforming levels.

Finally, Disc Room is a deliciously gory action-puzzler from a top-tier team of indies including Kitty Calis, Jan Willem Nijman, Terri Vellmann and Doseone. It looks bloody, addictive, and brilliant.

Here’s the full lineup of confirmed new Nintendo Switch games. We’ll update this post with any late additions throughout the week.
