Here’s a quick PSA for all PS4 and PS4 owners. Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition is currently free to download and own forever.

What a year 2017 was for video games. Super Mario Odyssey, Cuphead, and Hollow Knight are just some of its many highlights. The most acclaimed game of the year is probably Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Breath of Wild. But right behind it is Horizon Zero Dawn from Guerrilla Games.

If you missed the game, it’s now available for every single PS4 and PS5 owner to download for free and keep with no time limit or subscriptions. It’s all thanks to Sony’s Play at Home 2021 initiative to support staying at home during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Horizon Zero Dawn is a sweeping epic that blends exploration, robotic dinosaur action, deep combat mechanics, and an intriguing sci-fi story. It’s rightly recognised as one of the best games on PS4, and its sequel, Horizon Forbidden West, can’t come soon enough. The Complete Edition also includes the excellent Frozen Wilds expansion.

The only catch is that you have to add it to your PlayStation account before May 14 in North America and May 15 in Europe.

Don’t forget that there are a few days left to grab nine other Play at Home titles. Nine games – including Subnautica, Abzu, The Witness, and Rez Infinite – are free until April 22/23, 2021.

Head over to the PlayStation Store to get them while you can.

We hate to ask, but...

Thumbsticks has a couple of goals. We want to write interesting articles and cover games that most outlets won't, and we want to give opportunities to new writers and new voices. And right now, with the current state of online publishing? It's tough to meet those goals! We hate to ask, but if you want us to continue writing what others won't, or to keep covering weird indie games, or to be able to give opportunities to new writers – and only if you can afford it – then please consider supporting us on Patreon.
