Dark Light

Next week’s lineup of new PlayStation Store releases sees the return of some old favourites.

After a brief lull during E3, the PlayStation Store roars into life with a smorgasbord of new PS4 and PS5 releases.

Two highlights are remastered editions of old classics. Legend of Mana Remastered gives Square’s beloved action RPG receives an HD visual upgrade, a rearranged version of its classic soundtrack, and a host of quality of life improvements. The new ‘Land Make’ system – in which you can create your own world map – also looks interesting.

We’re not quite so confident in Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX. The Sega Master System original was hardly a classic, and the new visual treatment, although nice, pales in comparison to other remakes like Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap.

Another new release is The Eternal Castle [Remastered], which purports to be a new version of a lost 1980s classic, but is it? We reviewed the game on Nintendo Switch and called it “a hard game to love, but an easy one to admire.”

Other new PlayStation releases include Scarlett Nexus, Empire of Angel VI, and Fallen Knight. We’ll keep this page updated throughout the week with any late arrivals.
