Niantic, Inc. and The Pokémon Company International today announced an upcoming Halloween celebration in Pokémon GO.
A number of Ghost-type Pokémon will make their way into the game, plucked from the Hoenn region featured original in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. These include Sableye, Banette, and others.
As well as the new Pokémon, the seasonal update will increase the number of certain spooky monsters like Ghastly, Cubone, Misdreavous, and Houndour. The event runs from October 20 at 8:00 p.m. BST to November 2 at 9:00 p.m. BST.
This also heralds the arrival of a much larger addition, a press release from Niantic saying:
“We hope Trainers enjoy this special Halloween treat! Look forward to arrival of the rest of the Pokémon first seen in the Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire video games, starting gradually as early as December.”
Also of note, is that during the event, special Pikachu will be frolicking in the wild; what’s more, is that the little blighter will be in costume! On top of that, candy rewards for catching and trading will be doubled.
As a final treat, “Players will be able to wear the all-new avatar item, Mimikyu’s Disguise Hat, created in the likeness of the mysterious Disguise Pokémon Mimikyu.”
