Scott Pilgrim vs. The World Complete Edition release date confirmed

Ubisoft has confirmed the release date for the snappily-titled Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game – Complete Edition.

Ten years after its initial release, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game is coming back to console. Ubisoft has revealed that the Complete Edition of the game will hit digital stores on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on January 14, 2021. An appearance on other platforms is teased with the words “and more” in the press release, but specific dates and systems are yet to be confirmed.

Although the game debuted alongside the film of the same name, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game takes most of its aesthetic and narrative cues from Bryan Lee O’Malley’s cult graphic novel series. The 2D beat ’em up gameplay isn’t particularly groundbreaking, but faithfulness to the source material and the ability to play as multiple characters – such as Scott Pilgrim, Ramona Flowers, Kim Pine and Stephen Stills – made it an instant hit on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The game also features an outstanding chiptune soundtrack from Anamanaguchi.

The return of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game is particularly welcome as the original version was delisted back in 2014.

Here’s look at the game in action in a trailer from September’s Ubisoft Forward.
