Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice takes home the top prize at The Game Awards 2019.

From Software’s nails-tough action game picked up the Game of the Year award at the annual event.

Sekiro beat out Death Stranding, The Outer Worlds, Resident Evil 2, Control and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate to win the biggest prize of the night at The Game Awards. Wolf also nabbed the prize for Best Action/Adventure Game.

Death Stranding‘s Hideo Kojima took home the award for Best Direction, splitting the night’s top honours.

Sekiro released to strong sales in March and wowed critics with its demanding, but precise, combat. It currently enjoys a 91 rating on Metacritic, and, of the games released this year, is second only to Resident Evil 2.
