Treasure’s bullet-hell classic, Sin and Punishment: Successor of the Skies, hits the Nintendo eShop.

Sometimes games are critically acclaimed but for one reason or another flop. The Wii’s Sin and Punishment: Successor of the Skies is one of those games.

Successor of the Skies is a resolutely hardcore experience that arrived at a time when the Wii was firmly established as a casual machine. In many respects it was a game that could only shine on Nintendo’s console — being built around responsive pointer controls — but it was also the reason for the game’s commercial failure. It was a complete mismatch for the Wii’s audience. It was a cruel fate for such a wonderful title.

However, Sin and Punishment: Successor of the Skies now has another chance to find an audience, this time on Wii U.

You can pick it up on the UK eShop right now at the discounted price of £13.49 (usual price £17.99).

Created by Treasure, the developers behind Ikaruga and Gunstar Heroes, Sin and Punishment: Successor of the Skies is a blast from start to finish. An intense bullet-hell shooter that will test your reflexes and strategic mettle.

Check out the footage below and if you think your eyes can take it, we urge you to pick the game up.
