Steep: Road to the Winter Olympics does exactly what it says on the tin

Dark Light

It’s time to wax up your skis and practice your Korean; here’s the Steep: Road to the Winter Olympics E3 2017 trailer.

Ubisoft had a bit of a corker at this year’s E3, didn’t they?

Assassin’s Creed: Origins, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, Far Cry 5, South Park: The Fractured But Whole, The Crew 2, and Black Flag spin-off Skull & Bones – it was quite the lineup.

Am I missing anything? No, I don’t think so. I think that’s all of it.

Anyway. In amongst all the open world nonsense, always-connected multiplayer queueing simulators, and things with Tom Clancy in the name for some reason that Ubisoft churn out on an almost daily basis, Steep came out of nowhere. Developed by Ubisoft Annecy, who are based just a few miles from gorgeous skiing in the French Alps, Steep turned out to be really bloody good.

And at this year’s Ubisoft E3 Conference, in amongst all the massive names – I can’t help but feel like I’m forgetting something, though… I’m sure it will come back to me – Steep crept up on us all and coolly did its thing, just like when it was released, and it looks awesome. Specifically, it’s this trailer for the Steep: Road to the Winter Olympics expansion, which launches on December 5 this year:

The Steep: Road to the Winter Olympics expansion includes all manner of events from the 23rd Winter Olympiad – to be held in PyeongChang, South Korea, in Winter 2018 – including downhill, freestyle, and the bloody mental Ski and Border Cross, which is best described as a destruction derby. On snow. With people. And whacking great jumps.

Steep: Road to the Winter Olympics Cool Runnings Jamaica

Oh, and there’s a sweet little Cool Runnings reference in there, too. Watch out for turn number 12; scary, ja?

Yes. I know. It was Beyond Good and Evil 2. I was just yanking your chain. That trailer was something else though, right?
