Dark Light

Remember when Splatoon was released and we all moaned about the lack of content?

Since the game’s May 2015 launch we have seen ten new stages, five new game modes, a ton of new gear and weaponry and the introduction of Splatfest events. And it’s all been free.

Nintendo obviously had work to do to make up for the paucity of Splatoon’s launch content but it’s been a remarkably generous release schedule nonetheless.

The constant trickle of DLC has helped make Splatoon a valuable new IP for the House of Mario. It’s also been good to see Nintendo embrace digital content for their games in a way unthinkable a few short years ago.

But all good things come to an end and we are now starting to receive the last of Splatoon’s free content updates.

SplatoonArriving today is the last of the game’s 74 weapons, the Custom Hydra Splatling. It’s a water-hose like weapon that comes with a Sprinkler Sub weapon and a Bubbler Special to help compensate for the main weapon’s weaknesses.

This leaves one final stage to be released, the much-anticipated Acho-V Games office complex. As yet there is no word on a release date but we have an inkling (sorry!) that all will be revealed in a forthcoming Nintendo Direct.
