iam8bit announce the release of a beautifully packaged vinyl soundtrack for The Last Guardian.

Swoon. That’s all we can say about this one. iam8bit has built its reputation on its smart soundtrack choices and high production values. The vinyl release of The Last Guardian could be our favourite yet, never mind the fact we haven’t heard the music yet.

According to iam8bit, the score by composer Takeshi Furukawa blends the game’s sense of high adventure with the subtlety of an unlikely friendship. The double album’s tri-fold sleeve features some quite wonderful art by Canadian artist Nimit Malavia, whose work has previously graced Wolverine, Jubilee and the Fables series.

The Last Guardian - iam8bit

The Last Guardian is the follow-up to the much-loved PlayStation 2 classics Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. After spending nine years in development the game will finally be released on PlayStation 4 this December. Previews of the game have been optimistic but cautious. Whatever the game’s final quality it’s evidently been a labour of love for Japan Studios and is certain to be one of the most talked about games this fall.

The soundtrack album is currently slated for release in Q1 2017 and is available for pre-order now on the iam8bit website, priced $35.00. iam8bit has previously released vinyl soundtrack recordings from games including No Man’s Sky, Hyper Light DrifterUndertale and Monument Valley.
