Naughty Dog have announced that Left Behind, the acclaimed single-player chapter to The Last of Us, is coming to the US PlayStation Store as a standalone download.

The download will be available on both PS3 and PS4 from 12th May, priced $9.99. Naughty Dog are positioning the standalone Left Behind as a gateway to the full The Last of Us game. A way for new players to explore the world and characters at a lower price-point.

Also included will be a two-hour trial of the Factions Multiplayer mode. The Left Behind standalone will have upgrade paths available in the in-game store for both the full Factions experience and the full The Last of Us game. The price of the PS3 Left Behind Add-on will also be reduced on the same day.

We have a favour to ask

Thumbsticks has a couple of main aims. We want to write interesting articles and cover games that most outlets won't, and we want to give opportunities to new writers and new voices. And right now, with the current state of online publishing? It's tough! We hate to ask, but if you want us to continue writing what others won't, or to keep covering weird indie games, or to be able to give opportunities to new writers – and only if you can afford it – then please consider supporting us on Patreon.
