Witchercon event reveals uninspiring TV show tie-in cosmetics for the next-gen upgrade of The Witcher 3.

Witcher fans gathered digitally for the first Witchercon yesterday – an online celebration of the world of The Witcher. The three-hour event saw multiple guests discussing the book series, the upcoming second season of the Netflix streaming show, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Among the updates were details on the upcoming next-gen upgrade for the critically acclaimed RPG.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition has yet to get a release date – they should probably fix Cyberpunk 2077 before they lock that one in – but CD Projekt Red devs present at the event detailed some of the things we can expect from the next-gen upgrade.

The standard procedure of upgraded visuals and performance will, of course, come with the Complete Edition. However, CD was keen to emphasise that free DLC is also planned.

Those thinking of Blood and Wine level expansions should simmer their expectations, as the free updates will come in the form of “items” inspired by the Netflix TV series. Players will be able to don the armour worn by Henry Cavill in the show, alongside other tie-ins. CD gave no additional information, but it seems safe to assume that future DlC will include more weapons and more outfits.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition is set to be released later this year and will be a free upgrade to any PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S or PC players that already own the game.
