Bandai Namco has released the opening movie from Tales of Arise, animated by the renowned anime studio, Ufotable.

Ahead of the game’s September release, fans can now enjoy the opening movie from Bandai Namco’s Tale of Arise. The animation is from Tokyo studio Ufotable – known for Fate/Zero and Coyote Ragtime Show – and features the song Hibana by Kankaku Piero.

Tales of Arise is the seventeenth mainline game in the long-running Tales of… JRPG franchise. It follows the adventures of Alphen, Shionne, Rinwell, Law, Kisara, and Dohalim and their journey to free the planets of Dahna and Renan from oppression.

The game was originally slated for release last year but bumped to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Yusuke Tomizawa – producer on the God Eater franchise – is leading development with a stated promise to revive the series.

Speaking to IGN in April, Tomizawa said:

“The visuals, the aesthetics, and all of those things are evolving but we also keep a lot of the things that everybody has known and loved over the years. So it’s both a reboot in a sense that we want former Tales fans to come back to this game, as well as attract new players with these stunning new graphics, visuals, the aesthetics and all that good stuff.”

If Tomizawa’s team can achieve that goal, this should be some game.

Tales of Arise will be released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on September 10, 2021.
