Xbox Live Arcade classic Toy Soldiers is returning to Nintendo Switch, PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 this summer.
The much-loved Xbox 360 tower defence game Toy Soldiers will be rereleased on PC and console this August. Originally debuting in 2010, the game was a massive hit for Signal Studios, becoming one of the best-selling XBLA titles of the era. The game is a clever blend of action, strategy, and spectacle and notable for its deliciously animated cast of green plastic toy soldiers.
Toy Soldiers HD – which is being developed in partnership with Accelerate Games – brings the core experience back with high-definition graphics, improved single and multiplayer gameplay, every piece of DLC, and the promise of brand new content,
Speaking about the revival, Gregory Fischbach at Accelerate Games says:
“Like many tower defense games, you strategically build your defenses while plotting your counter-offensives. But unlike other tower defense games, Toy Soldiers HD gives you the ability to experience the battle from both a top-down perspective and a third-person perspective. Watch the action unfold or jump feet first into the boots of an infantryman and race across the battlefield dodging artillery while using a flamethrower to burn your enemies to a crisp. Mount your horse and charge the enemy head-on with your cavalry. Pilot bombers and drop shells that pockmark the field below or strafe your opponent using biplanes. Go hands-on howitzers and mow down the enemy.”
To be honest, we had sort of forgotten about Toy Soldiers, and it’s a treat to discover the game is returning to duty. Take a look at the impressive reveal trailer.
