Xbox Games with Gold - February 2018

Microsoft reveals the free games coming to Xbox Games With Gold in February 2018.

There’s a reasonable, if slightly unspectacular, lineup of games coming to Xbox Games with Gold next month.

From February 1, players can take on demonic hordes in Flying Wild Hog’s ageing FPS, Shadow Warrior. It’s by no means a bad game, but hardly feels essential with the likes of Doom and the Wolfenstein series available.

Arriving on February 16 is Assassins’ Creed Chronicles – India. Again, it’s not a bad game, and is probably the best title in a series of 2D Assassin’s Creed spin-offs that failed to live up to its potential.

If you prefer speed to stealth, Xbox Live Gold members also have two Xbox 360 racing games to look forward to. Sega’s Crazy Taxi speaks for itself, but our choice pick from February’s Games with Gold lineup is Black Rock Studio’s Split/Second. It’s an arcade racer of the highest calibre that was criminally overlooked on release. A must try.

We hate to ask, but...

Thumbsticks has a couple of goals. We want to write interesting articles and cover games that most outlets won't, and we want to give opportunities to new writers and new voices. And right now, with the current state of online publishing? It's tough to meet those goals! We hate to ask, but if you want us to continue writing what others won't, or to keep covering weird indie games, or to be able to give opportunities to new writers – and only if you can afford it – then please consider supporting us on Patreon.
