The Xbox Games with Gold lineup for July 2021 includes a sci-fi puzzle adventure and a host of classics from yesteryear.
The latest freebies for Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members have been confirmed by Microsoft. As ever, it’s a grab bag of oddities from various Xbox generations. (Exclusive industry secret: all the cool stuff is on Xbox Game Pass.)
Our favourite Xbox Games with Gold title for July is Planet Alpha, the sci-fi adventure from Tim Börrefors and Team 17. We played it on Nintendo Switch and was charmed by its vibrant graphics and delicately challenging puzzles.
Conker: Live & Reloaded – which remakes the single-player mode of N64 favourite Conker’s Bad Fur Day – is an enjoyable trip down memory lane for players of a certain vintage. And ACE Team’s competitive tower-defence game Rock of Ages 3: Make & Break is both fun and funny.
And the other 31 games? They can all be found in Midway Arcade Origins. The comprehensive collection of arcade hits includes classics like 720°, APB, Gauntlet, and Marble Madness.
July’s Games with Gold are available for subscribers to download between the following dates.

Of June’s free games, Injustice: Gods Among Us and The King’s Bird are available until midnight tonight. Shadows: Awakening is available until July 15.
