Anthem swoops in at No.1 in the latest UK video games chart.
Bioware’s new online action game, Anthem, has taken top spot in this week’s UK video game chart compiled by GfK. The chart – which tracks UK retail sales – sees last week’s No.1, Ubisoft’s Far Cry New Dawn, drop to second place.
Topping the chart is no easy feat, but it’s interesting to note that physical sales of Anthem are half of those for Bioware’s last game, the much maligned Mass Effect: Andromeda.
Of course, with Anthem primarily positioned as online multiplayer game, a high proportion of its sales were probably digital. The game also had a ridiculously drawn out release window, with many players getting hold of the game in advance of its official street date.
Elsewhere in the Top Ten, Metro Exodus falls three places to No.5, and Forza Horizon 4 motors back up the chart from fifteenth to No.6.
The Bandai Namco published fighting game Jump Force tumbles from fourth to No.17, and Crackdown 3 drops 13 places to No.26.
