Art of Rally – the sublime racing game from Funselektor – will be released on Nintendo Switch and Xbox next week.

Despite its deceptively simple visuals and isometric camera perspective, Art of Rally may be just as authentic a rally sim as any licensed AAA game based on the popular motorsport.

Developer Funselektor (Dune Casu) was inspired by the Colin McRae games of the early 2000s, as well as his experience behind the wheel at the DirtFish rally school. The result is a game that captures the feel of rally racing but is also relaxed and meditative. That’s quite an achievement.

Art of Rally debuted on PC last September and was an instant hit. It will now race on to Nintendo Switch and Xbox consoles on August 12, with a PlayStation release to follow later this year.

The Switch and Xbox versions feature all of the improvements released for the PC edition, plus the brand new Kenya expansion. The update adds six new stages, four new cars, and two new songs.

It’s a welcome addition to a game that is already rich with content. Players start with access to 61 rally cars and 60 rally stages set in stunning renditions in Finland, Sardinia, Norway, Japan, and Germany.

You can sample the delights in store in the new Art of Rally release trailer.
