Astral Chain, the Nintendo Switch exclusive from PlatinumGames, tops the UK video games chart in a big week for new entries.

Four new games have debuted in the UK All Formats video games chart top ten. Top of the pile is Astral Chain, the well-received new Nintendo Switch actioner from PlatinumGames. It’s followed at No.2 by THQ Nordic’s demolition racing game, Wreckfest, and Supermassive’s spooky sea-faring adventure,The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan at No.3.

Remedy Entertainment’s Control – the game we expected to top the chart – enters at No.4. It was perhaps a difficult game to grasp in previews, so hopefully its positive critical reception will ensure it sticks around for some weeks to come. In our review we called the game “another stellar addition” to the studio’s impressive portfolio.

Last week’s No.1, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, falls to No. 5. There’s also a re-entry in the top ten for Marvel’s Spider-Man, which swings all the way from No.34 to No.8. Further down the chart there are re-entries for Collection of Mana, Jump Force, and The Sims 4.

Here’s the full top ten. Head over to the UKIE website for the complete top forty chart rundown for the week ending August 31, 2019.
