Awesome Games Done Quick once again raises an awesome amount of money for charity.

Awesome Games Done Quick, the speedrunning “festival” of sorts that has been running since 2010, has an adorable social conscience. Twice a year, when they gather the speedrunning community to smash records and beat games bloody quickly, they also work damn hard to raise as much money for charity as possible.

This year, over the past week, the AGDQ community have raised $2.2 million (around £1.8 million) for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. That’s a tidy sum of money, and – in conjunction with all the speedrunning records that have tumbled this week – is a new record for the event.

That stunning effort brings the total raised by Awesome Games Done Quick and its summer counterpart, Summer Games Done Quick, to over $10 million (£8.3 million).

They’re not finished there, though. As well as the next Summer Games Done Quick event, scheduled for July 2-9, 2017, the donation page for the current Awesome Games Done Quick event is still open, so there’s still time to drive that number up.
