A new map is released today for Blackout, the Call of Duty Black Ops 4 battle royal mode.
Set on an island heavily inspired by the real Alcatraz, the new map features cell blocks, outhouses, a cable car, and the prison’s iconic lighthouse. It also looks like some zombie inmates are rather agitated. It must be the food.
The compressed field of play certainly looks ripe for close quarters combat. Shotguns and SMGs are order of the day if you’re to escape, Sean Connery style, from this miserable hell hole.
The timing of the new map is certainly welcome, with Apex Legends and the continued success of Fortnite diverting attention away from Call of Duty Black Ops 4‘s accomplished battle royale offering.
The new trailer shows the map in action.
The new Alctraz map is initially exclusive to PlayStation 4, but will mostly likely be released on other platforms within the next two weeks. The Blackout battle royale mode will also be free-to-play on all platforms from today until the end of the month.
