Microsoft has confirmed May’s lineup of new Xbox Game Pass titles, with Bohemia Interactive’s zombie survival game joining Rockstar’s Wild West adventure.
The departure of Grand Theft Auto V leaves a Rockstar-shaped hole in Microsoft’s video game subscription service this week but fret not. Los Santos might be going, but five entire fictitious US states are here to take its place. Red Dead Redemption 2 needs little introduction, although “one of the best games of all time” is the consensus of at least two Thumbsticks staffers. It hits Xbox Game Pass on Thursday, May 7.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is joined by another game that revels in the delights of the wilderness. The post-Soviet Republic of Chernarus is the dangerous and unforgiving location for Bohemia Interactive’s much-loved zombie survival game, DayZ.
Xbox gamers can also look forward to Square Enix RPG, Final Fantasy IX, which arrives next week, and Fractured Minds, an artistic exploration of mental health and anxiety from EmilyMGames.
New to Xbox Game Pass – May 2020
- DayZ – May 7
- Red Dead Redemption 2 – May 7
- Final Fantasy IX – May 14
- Fractured Minds – May 19
In addition to GTAV, some other games are leaving Xbox Game Pass. Say goodbye to Black Desert, Doom, Lego Ninjago, Mega Man Legacy Collection 2, Metal Gear Survive, The Banner Saga, and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus.
This month’s Xbox Game Pass for PC titles are also confirmed as Endless Legend, Final Fantasy IX, and the long-awaited PC version Halo 2 for the Halo Master Chief Collection.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is currently available with a first month offer of $1/£1 for new subscribers.
