Dead Cells developer Motion Twin outlines the game’s next big content update, which is due in early 2021.

Motion Twin and Evil Empire have announced that critically acclaimed rogue-lite platformer Dead Cells will receive a second paid content expansion in Q1 2021. Remarkably, the update will be the twenty-second that the game has received since its Early Access launch in 2017.

The Fatal Falls DLC will be released at a pocket-friendly $4.99 in the US. It includes two completely new biomes – The Fractured Shrines and The Undying Shores – plus new weapons and a brand new boss. Motion Twin says the expansion is designed to give players increased options for middle-run exploration.

The new teaser trailer, erm, teases what’s to come.

Dead Cells has been a massive success for Motion Twin. Following its full release, the game has sold more than 3.5 million copies across all platforms. Evil Empire was formed as a support studio in 2019 to continue development on the game, with the core Motion Twin team moving onto new projects.
