Here’s how to download the Legendary Pokémon Thundurus and Tornadus to Pokémon Sun, Ultra Sun, Moon, or Ultra Moon.
2018’s year-long celebration of Legendary Pokémon continues in July with Legendary Pokémon Thundurus and Tornadus available to download for free to Pokémon Ultra Sun, Sun, Ultra Moon, and Moon on Nintendo 3DS.
In the US, free download codes can be picked up from participating Target stores between July 13–28, 2018. In Canada, you can grab a code from the upcoming Pokémon Trainer Club newsletter. Sign up via the official Pokémon website by July 5 to make sure you get the code. And in Europe and Australia, you can simply download Thundurus and Tornadus via the Nintendo Network between July 6-22, 2018.
Here are the abilities and moves for each of July’s Legendary distributions.
Thundurus
Pokémon Ultra Sun
- Level: 100
- Ability: Prankster
- Held Item: Gold Bottle Cap
- Moves: Thunderbolt, Focus Blast, Grass Knot, Nasty Plot
Pokémon Sun
- Level: 60
- Ability: Prankster
- Moves: Discharge, Crunch, Charge, Nasty Plot
Tornadus
Pokémon Ultra Moon
- Level: 100
- Ability: Prankster
- Held Item: Gold Bottle Cap
- Moves: Hurricane, Heat Wave, Grass Knot, Tailwind
Pokémon Moon
- Level: 60
- Ability: Prankster
- Moves: Air Slash, Crunch, Tailwind, Rain Dance
How to download Thundurus and Tornadus
- Charge up your 3DS, turn it on, and make sure you can connect to the internet.
- Load up either Sun, Ultra Sun, Moon, or Ultra Moon, and select the ‘Mystery Gift’ option on the main menu.
- Select ‘Receive Gift’.
- You’ll be asked if it’s OK to open a Communication Channel, say ‘Yes’.
- Select ‘Get with Code/Password, or Get via Internet depending on your region.
- Either enter the download code, or connect to the internet.
- Watch the classic movie Cleopatra to pass some time.
- When asked if you want to ‘Receive this gift?’ say ‘Yes’.
- Once received, your new Thundurus and Tornadus can be obtained from the delivery person in any Pokémon Center. Make sure you have a vacant spot in your party.
- And be sure to save your game!
