Destiny 2 will be free to play on PlayStation 4 for three and a half days, starting this Friday.

Preload is available now for the Destiny 2 free weekend on PlayStation 4. The free trial kicks off at 12:01 am PT on Friday 29, 2018, and runs through to 10:00 am on Monday July 2, 2018.

It’s fair to say that Destiny 2 has had its ups and downs – for reasons too numerous to explore here – but its moment-to-moment FPS gameplay remains peerless. The warm reception for the recent Warmind update, and the positive E3 demo for the upcoming Forsaken expansion, all bode well for the game’s future.

So, if you’ve been on the fence about Destiny 2, or, erm, sold your original copy soon after release, you can jump back into the fray on this weekend for free on PS4.

The PlayStation 4 trial includes the full Destiny 2 campaign, plus all of the tweaks, improvements and changes that Bungie have implemented to the game since its launch in September, 2017. Naturally, any progress made will be saved and carried over should you purchase the full game.

At the time of writing, the free trial only appears to be available in the US. We’ll update this article if and when it opens up to EU players.

In other Destiny 2 news it appears that Reddit data miners have uncovered the sources of eight exotic catalysts, five of which will be available via Armsweek, a probable expansion to regular Armsday events.
